The 62 WHEN Weatherwatch Forecast
In Syracuse, WHEN was the first radio station to regularly use a staff meteorologist for regular local forecasting. Joe Zona, during the early 1980's, was one of WHEN's most recognized broadcast personalities. Early on in his tenure at WHEN, Joe provided both morning and afternoon drive forecasts that were heard by thousands of Central New Yorkers commuters each day on their way to and from work. Though Joe's forecasts were local, his actual broadcasts originated from Weather Services, a forecasting company based just outside Boston in Bedford. In addition to 62 WHEN, Joe was also heard on numerous other stations around the country, including WEEI in Boston and WMAL in Washington, D.C.
